Todd Reed is a Nikon International Award Winning Photographer who has built an impressive career as a photographer in the Ludington Area for over 35 years. Todd and his middle son Brad capture a dazzling array of the natural sites in the 25 miles between Big Sable Point in Ludington and Little Sable Point in Silver Lake.
Todd majored in journalism at Michigan State University, but honed in on photography once he took the major’s required photography course. He went to work for the Ludington Daily News, staying there 23 years as a writer and photographer. Todd won dozens of Associated Press Awards while at the Ludington Daily News.
The Coast Guard Reserve is also one of Todd’s biggest passions in life. Todd ran motor lifeboats out of the Ludington area for 33 years. In 1988, Todd was named the Reservist of the Year for the entire nation. Todd retired from the Coast Guard in 2005.
Todd is grateful to do what he loves for a living being outdoors and capturing the images and dramatic moments in the Ludington area landscape that people are often too busy see for themselves. And, he has always chosen the Ludington area for the majority of his subject matter in fact, he can’t think of a better place to shoot.
You can see Todd’s work at the Todd & Brad Reed Photo Gallery in downtown Ludington and at Our Gallery in downtown Pentwater.
